Nitro: Siberian Husky (M) 11 months – ADOPTED

Name: Nitro
Breed: Siberian Husky
Gender: Male (Intact)
Age: 11 months
Cats: No
Dogs: Yes – good
Kids: Not tested

Nitro is a good-natured, medium energy level husky and being his current age, can still be a little mouthy when putting on his leash but this can be worked on with training.

He loves to play and loves his treat ball.  He is at the age where he is learning all the time and needs someone who can give him the exercise and mental stimulation he needs.  He is food/snack driven so this will be a good training tool for rewarding correct behaviour.  He loves going for long walks and being kept active, he’s great with all other dogs, big and small.  He has not been tested with children but because of the mouthing, no young toddlers/kids.

Nitro has been to puppy classes and knows some basic commands but would benefit greatly from continuing his training which also helps with bonding to a new family.  He does still tend to pull on the leash until he settles into the walk and again, this is something that can be worked on.  He is not fully crate trained – he will go in when the door is open but will cry when it is closed.  Again, with training and/or being fed in the crate, this can be worked on.  However, he does currently sleep in the bedroom.

He can show signs of food-guarding depending on who is feeding him – again this needs to be worked on and using the crate could be a good tool for both this and the crate training.  He’s shown some sensitivity to commercial dog foods and to chicken.  He is currently being fed on a diet with fish/vegetables.

Nitro is up to date on his vaccinations and apart from being slightly anaemic as a puppy he is in good health.  He will be adopted on a strict age-appropriate neuter/non-breeding contract.
