Skye is good with the other dogs in our neighbourhood and the only time there is ever an issue has been when she’s in heat. She loves kids and people in general but she could unintentionally hurt a small child when she gets excited. She is pretty sullen when left alone so would be better placed with someone who is home more often than I am.
Skye has lived with a cat in the house before, but as with the natural prey-drive of this breed, another unknown cat would have to be introduced with extreme caution and always supervised together.
My stepson originally bought Skye for his girlfriend but when she took her home her parents refused to let her keep Skye as they already had 2 aging dogs. He asked us to look after her temporarily and we’ve had her ever since. My husband looked after Skye for the most part, but he passed away in July and I’m finding her hard to manage now I’m on my own. Because I’m away from home 10 hours a day, she’s started being destructive around the house.
Skye has not had any professional training as we did not expect to keep her this long but she does knows basic commands (sit, paw, lay down). Walks well on the leash and is good in the car but gets excited when getting in and out. She sleeps outside my bedroom door or on the couch.
Skye is currently free fed and food is left out all day for her. She’s never been aggressive about food but begs quite often when people are eating.
Skye has her full vet records with our current vet in Georgetown and her vaccines are up to date. She does have occasional seizures but hasn’t had one in some time. She will be adopted on a strict non-breeding/spay contract.
