Kaya: Siberian Husky (F) 7 years – COURTESY LISTING

Name: Kaya
Breed: Siberian Husky
Gender: Female (Intact)
Age: 7 years
Cats: NO
Dogs: Selective – see description
Kids: Yes

Kaya is a high energy female Siberian Husky. I obtained her when she was just a puppy from a couple that were bus drivers who soon realized they did not have the time to care for her.

Shortly after I got Kaya I unfortunately got bit by a tick and have been suffering from Lyme disease for 7 years now. I had to quit my job and I have difficulty sustaining a full time job. My parents and my brother have been helping to care for here all these years. We live in a first floor apartment and due to the construction they knocked down our fence and she has been constantly opening doors and finding her way out. We are also having problems with our new landlord who has been looking for an excuse to get in here and evict us even though we have lived here 32 years.

Kaya is high energy, smart and very loving towards people and children. I have had babies grab her and pull on her and she’s been fine with it. She does have issues with neutered males (not all of them but most) and smaller breeds – again she’s selective as I have had her playing with small dogs and others she just wants to go after and I don’t understand her logic! She is quite stubborn and will try to steal your food when you’re not looking. She’s a big baby and cries at people bedroom doors for someone to sleep with because she does not like to be alone.

She would do best in a family that does not have other pets as she’s quite jealous/possessive and territorial as she wants to be the center of attention. She needs love and affection and a fenced back yard to run around in.

She is good with commands like sit, lay down, give paw. She likes to be on a long leash and if you yank on it she generally will slow down and wait for you. If she sees a dog she doesn’t like, you have to hold her firmly.  She cannot be let off leash.

We have been giving her a dry raw and raw non dehydrated meat. She is picky but she will it when she’s hungry.  Kaya is up to date with her vaccinations, having been done a couple months ago.  She will be adopted on a strict non-breeding/spay contract.
